How FuelSetu Compares with Other Kinds of Petrol Pump Software
Petrol pumps usually choose between four kinds of tools: installed desktop or LAN software, cloud apps that started as accounting software, spreadsheets and paper registers, and forecourt-first cloud platforms like FuelSetu. This page compares the kinds, not individual brands, so you know what to check in each demo.
How to read this. The columns describe what we typically see in each kind of product. Individual products differ, so "Varies by vendor" means you should ask. We make FuelSetu, and the FuelSetu column describes our own product.

Which kind of tool suits which pump
Installed desktop / LAN software
Suits a single pump with a dedicated office PC and an accountant on site who wants everything local and working without internet. Many of these products have been refined over many years. Check backups, remote viewing for the owner, multi-outlet consolidation and annual maintenance costs.
Cloud accounting-first apps
Suits owners whose priority is the books: ledgers, balance sheet, trial balance, available from anywhere. Check how detailed the forecourt side is: per-nozzle readings, per-operator shortage, tank variance.
Spreadsheets / paper registers
Suits a very small pump starting out, at no software cost. Expect manual totals, no audit trail of who changed what, and month-end work for the accountant.
Forecourt-first cloud platform (FuelSetu)
Suits owners who want shifts, tanks, cash, credit and loyalty run from phones, with accounts flowing to Tally or Zoho Books, across one or many outlets, in the staff's language. Full accounting stays in Tally or Zoho Books.

Frequently asked questions
How does FuelSetu compare with other petrol pump software?
Most petrol pump software covers meter readings and shifts, stock, credit customers, GST and some form of Tally export. FuelSetu differs mainly in its published price (₹18,000 per year per outlet in India, all features), automatic Tally voucher posting, apps for phone, desktop and web, 7 languages, a multi-outlet dashboard, and built-in loyalty and POS/UPI settlement matching. Installed desktop software is often stronger offline and in full accounting; cloud accounting-first apps are often stronger in books.
Is desktop petrol pump software better than cloud software?
Each has trade-offs. Desktop or LAN software runs without internet but keeps data on your own computers, so backups and remote access are your responsibility. Cloud software lets owners see every outlet from a phone and keeps backups for you, but must handle internet outages. FuelSetu is cloud software whose core shift operations also work offline.
Should I move from Excel or paper registers to software?
Spreadsheets and registers cost nothing to start, but they do not record who entered what, they break when formulas are edited, and they cannot alert you to a shortage or stock variance at the end of a shift. Software is worth it once shortages, credit disputes or accountant time cost more than the subscription.
Why don't you name other products?
Products change often, and features vary a lot between vendors in the same category. We compare kinds of software instead and suggest you ask every vendor the questions in our buyer's guide during a demo.
How much does FuelSetu cost compared with other software?
FuelSetu costs ₹18,000 per year per outlet in India with all features included. Other products may charge a one-time licence plus annual maintenance, or a subscription by tier; ask each vendor for a written yearly cost per outlet including installation, training and support.
